As our Fiscal Year 2013 comes to a close, we’d like to recognize three retiring members of our Southwest Initiative Foundation Board of Directors. Clearly their service leaves a legacy and unquestionable example of leadership in governance that will benefit SWIF forever.
An organization like SWIF needs visionary leaders to guide its work, and Gary Geiger of Willmar has definitely provided great vision and strategic direction while serving on our board.
Gary was elected to the SWIF board in 2007 and served one term as secretary beginning in 2010. He brought valuable insight and experience to many committees, including the executive committee, loan committee, investment committee, and finance and audit committee. He provided leadership during SWIF’s rebranding process, serving on the ad hoc committee that selected a marketing firm partner and set the direction for improving and growing SWIF’s visibility throughout the region.
Gary also introduced SWIF board and staff to the Speak Your Peace Civility Project. Gary is a true role model, bringing respect, knowledge and great perception to all board conversations.
For those who know Gary, please join us in thanking him for his dedication to our entire region!
