This past week I was in Worthington to host a special thank you reception for our Growing Home Circle donors. We were at the Historic Dayton House – which is one of the many hidden gems in our region.
Built in the late 1880’s, it was the home of George Dayton and his family. Mr. Dayton eventually went on to found the Dayton department stores which is now Target Corporation.
It was lovingly restored in 2003 by a nonprofit group called Worthington Historical Society. Today, they make the home available for meetings, wedding receptions, and other events. It’s a remarkable piece of our history and just a wonderful place to gather people.
What is the Growing Home Circle?
We rely on our general endowment to fund the grants and the programs we deliver. The Growing Home Circle recognizes donors who give $1,000 or more each year to support our endowment. Those gifts are matched, dollar-for-dollar, by The McKnight Foundation and each year we reinvest the earnings into our communities. We are so grateful to the many donors across the region who generously give to the Southwest Initiative Foundation.
