Certified massage therapist Kiley Kruggel is opening Much Kneaded Massage in Hutchinson with help from Southwest Initiative Foundation’s (SWIF) Microenterprise Loan Program.
Kruggel holds a bachelor’s degree in exercise science from Southwest Minnesota State University and an associate degree in massage therapy from Ridgewater College. She spent four years as a massage therapist at Genesis Salon and Enso Spa in Hutchinson. She specializes in relaxation, deep tissue, therapeutic and pregnancy massage. She also offers cupping therapy and kinesiology taping.
“I believe in the body’s ability to heal itself and that massage therapy is one of the many paths to restoring health and wholeness to the body. More and more, mainstream medical practitioners are referring their patients to massage therapists for chronic pain, injuries and other ailments,” Kruggel said. “I’m also a strong supporter of self care.”
Kruggel will be renting space inside Robert Michael’s Hair Salon on Hutchinson’s Main Street. She’s using the SWIF loan funds to purchase equipment and cover start-up costs.
“Kiley was looking for an opportunity to be self-employed, and we’re excited to help her create that by guiding her through the ins and outs of opening a small business,” said SWIF Economic Development Officer Jackie Turner.
Loan programs have been a key function of SWIF since its inception to support communities and businesses throughout southwest Minnesota. In 2001, microlending was added to existing programs as a tool to support small businesses and people looking for self-employment opportunities.
Microloan clients receive free technical assistance from SWIF staff to improve their business management skills. Areas of support include business planning and financials analysis, QuickBooks training, marketing assistance and other training opportunities for the life of the loan.
This microloan program receives funding assistance from the U.S. Small Business Administration and U.S. Department of Agriculture. For more information, contact SWIF at 800-594-9480, 320-587-4848 or [email protected].
