This weekend, I’ll be celebrating my daughter’s college graduation from Minnesota State University-Mankato. I’m so proud of her for the time and hard work she’s put into her education and all she’s accomplished so far.
Her graduation also is a reminder to me of the people throughout our region who are working hard to learn new things. Graduates—and anyone improving their knowledge and skills—are an amazing asset to our regional community.
What are we doing to encourage young people to explore what our region has to offer? I hear so often from regional business leaders that their number one challenge is workforce. Our region has GREAT job opportunities and our communities make GREAT homes for employees and their families.
During this holiday season, there will be more young people home in your area visiting with family and friends. Think about how you might connect with even just ONE, whether it’s your child, grandchild, niece/nephew, neighbor, fellow church member, former student/employee. Share with them why you think our region would be a good place for them to build a career, and help them imagine their bright future in southwest Minnesota!
