Southwest Minnesota nonprofits have a special opportunity to apply for up to $5,000 in capacity building grants. Our goal is to build the strength and sustainability of direct service organizations in our region.
Even though this is a new grant cycle, we have awarded grants like this in the past. One example is Dakota Wicohan, an organization in Morton that we’ve supported. Dakota Wicohan is a resource center that connects Dakota culture through activities, arts, and language. They have a program that pairs at-risk youth with horseback riding, inter-generational language programs, a drumming program for young men. and the list goes on.
Like many nonprofits, they have a tight budget, so resources usually go directly to programs and services. Our grant allowed Dakota Wicohan to do some staff development training. If you know of a nonprofit in your community who could benefit from this Southwest Initiative Foundation grant cycle, please share the details with them!
Applications are due Jan. 4.
