Marie is an award-winning writer who can find a story anywhere. Thanks in no small part to coffee and mentors, she has interviewed the coach of a British soccer dynasty, shook hands with the CEO of AGCO and helped hold up The Mills Trophy honoring the Jackson County Pilot as the best weekly newspaper in the state.
With her experience in community journalism, she’s comfortable sitting down at someone’s kitchen table and listening. Connecting people is an important part of her work at Southwest Initiative Foundation, and Marie believes those connections are what makes our communities into what we want them to be.
Marie has a degree in communications from the College of Saint Benedict and is an alum of the Blandin Community Leadership Program. She serves on the board of McLeod For Tomorrow, a local leadership nonprofit, and the Board of Education at her church in Brownton and volunteers with the Glencoe Area Community Foundation.
