Community Foundation and Education Foundation partners are invited to join the SWIF Giving Team and fellow advisory board members for a hands-on workshop to learn about writing an engaging year-end fundraising letter, followed by a site visit and optional networking social.
Southwest Initiative Foundation Summer Socials
We’re excited to be hosting five social events across the region this summer, and we hope to see you at one of them! Each event is free, open-house style, family-friendly, and includes light refreshments. Branch out to meet new people and invite your friends to learn about Southwest Initiative Foundation, as well as our local work and partnerships.
Make a Difference with a Gift from Your IRA
Cris and Linda Remucal moved to Hutchinson in 1973 so Cris could work as a surgeon in Hutchinson, Glencoe, Litchfield and Winsted. They liked it and stayed, raising three sons and weaving themselves into the fabric of the community. Today, the Remucals support SWIF and their local community foundation through their IRA.
A Team for Life
Rich and Kathy Wehking learned about Southwest Initiative Foundation from their financial advisor. They liked the variety of work to support communities, from early childhood to business development, and knowing the organization was well-established. Together with their advisor and Southwest Initiative Foundation staff, Rich and Kathy created a Charitable Remainder Trust to support the community they love.
Endowment Funds as a Tool for Legacy
David C. “Pat” McFarland Jr. was a steadfast member of the Marshall community, whose thoughtful and generous estate planning will impact generations to come. In Pat’s estate plan, he included bequests that left three cash gifts to Southwest Initiative Foundation. Each bequest created an endowment fund that carries his name and supports organizations close to his heart: St. James Episcopal Church, Prairie Home Hospice, and Friends of the Orchestra, all in Marshall.
2022 Fund Partner Training
We appreciate the important role our fund partner volunteers play in their communities and our entire southwest Minnesota region. SWIF wants to be the best possible partner for this community
