This week marked the Southwest Initiative Foundation’s first year at Farmfest and what a “wow” it was to be involved. I’ve attended Farmfest many times, but it was so fun to share the foundation’s work with visitors.
The people at the show were some of the friendliest, down-to-earth people from throughout southwest Minnesota and way beyond. It was AWESOME to see people of ALL ages – seniors, middle agers, young adults and children. This event is a special way to celebrate what our region is all about.
We had three very long—but great—days at the show. We were one of more than 600 exhibitors and it was a great opportunity to share information and stories about our Keep It Growing farmland giving program and our foundation.
It was amazing to see so many people who have built successful careers around agriculture as well as our fellow exhibitors. We had beautiful weather for the show, and even the rain on Thursday was a welcome sight, coming at the right time for many of our area farmers. Thousands of people enjoyed seeing the sights and connecting with each other.
Thanks to all who stopped by our booth or visited with me, our board and our staff during the show. We’re so proud to call our region home to Farmfest!
