Have you seen the big red building as you drive through Worthington on I-90 and Highway 59? It started as a tourist attraction but today is home to unique bioscience companies.
Southwest Initiative Foundation was at the table years ago when there was discussion about what to do on this corner. It’s been remarkable to see how the private sector in Worthington stepped up to take control of this space and turn it into this incredible regional resource. With a new Prairie Holdings Group facility, new Comfort Suites and Conference Center and others—this area has become a real gathering place in southwest Minnesota.
Last month, we were a sponsor at the Worthington Bioscience Conference hosted at the center. I especially loved seeing students getting involved and learning about the things they can do right here at home in their own communities, to have successful careers and livelihoods.
From the middle school participating in the science project to Minnesota West Community and Technical College, students are gaining great career exposure and connections to industry leaders right here in rural Minnesota.
