Cris and Linda Remucal moved to Hutchinson in 1973 so Cris could work as a surgeon in Hutchinson, Glencoe, Litchfield and Winsted. They liked it and stayed, raising three sons and weaving themselves into the fabric of the community. Today, the Remucals support SWIF and their local community foundation through their IRA.

A Team for Life
Rich and Kathy Wehking learned about Southwest Initiative Foundation from their financial advisor. They liked the variety of work to support communities, from early childhood to business development, and knowing the organization was well-established. Together with their advisor and Southwest Initiative Foundation staff, Rich and Kathy created a Charitable Remainder Trust to support the community they love.
Endowment Funds as a Tool for Legacy
David C. “Pat” McFarland Jr. was a steadfast member of the Marshall community, whose thoughtful and generous estate planning will impact generations to come. In Pat’s estate plan, he included bequests that left three cash gifts to Southwest Initiative Foundation. Each bequest created an endowment fund that carries his name and supports organizations close to his heart: St. James Episcopal Church, Prairie Home Hospice, and Friends of the Orchestra, all in Marshall.
Minnesota Beer Company open in Grove City
Roxanne Landers and Christopher Daniels have started a new brewpub in an abandoned Grove City gas station with help from Southwest Initiative Foundation’s (SWIF) Microenterprise Loan Program. Minnesota Beer Company opened to the public in May and is located at at 510 West Atlantic Avenue.
