From Program Officer Jackie Turner-Lovsness
Each year, we work with dozens of aspiring and existing business owners. I love the excitement and energy they have as they kick off a new stage of their business.
A couple of years ago, we worked with Russell Schlueter and Dustin Nelson for the start-up of their business, Summit Grain Construction, located near Stewart, Minnesota. They do construction and repair service for grain handling equipment on farm and commercial facilities. It’s been a good business for these young entrepreneurs. They support the agricultural grain industry, including farmers, commercial grain elevators, feed mills and fertilizer plants.
We provided a microloan, which Russell and Dustin used to purchase equipment and inventory. We also provided technical assistance for bookkeeping and marketing to help give their business a strong start.
