As our Fiscal Year 2013 comes to a close, we’d like to recognize three retiring members of our Southwest Initiative Foundation Board of Directors. Clearly their service leaves a legacy and unquestionable example of leadership in governance that will benefit SWIF forever.
Similar to our office headquarters serving as the gateway to southwest Minnesota, SWIF was a gateway for H. Cris Remucal, M.D. of Hutchinson to see our rural region while bringing a unique perspective to the board.
Cris joined our board in 2006, just as SWIF moved into our new building in Hutchinson. Beyond serving as a local figure to our regional organization, Cris served on the investment committee.
In 2011, Cris initiated a campaign asking board members to personally contribute to a Growing Home Circle gift in honor of all SWIF staff. Announced at the 25th Anniversary “Best of Southwest” banquet, the gift marked a renewed sense of appreciation for all those connected to SWIF’s work.
Cris’s sincere, caring and positive attitude have helped SWIF see and remember the truly remarkable people and places that make southwest Minnesota “home.”
