Grants help address link between community development and workforce housing
The Southwest Initiative Foundation (SWIF) announces the availability of $25,000 in grants to fund housing studies, assessments and housing-focused community development plans within its 18-county service area.
Eligible projects will include housing studies, housing needs assessments or housing-focused community development plans undertaken for a city or county that will address the important link between community development and the supply of adequate workforce housing.
Funding for each project is limited to $5,000 or 25 percent of the eligible project costs, whichever is less. A cash match of at least 25 percent of the total cost for the project must be provided directly by the applicant or from sources located within the focus area of the project.
Interested parties should complete the pre-application at www.swifoundation.org/Grantpreappquest.cfm by May 1, 2009, to be considered for this opportunity. Applicants must clearly identify on the pre-application request form why the project is being done and the timeline during which it will occur.
After May 1, 2009, organizations that are being considered for full funding will be asked to submit a complete application. An invitation for application does not guarantee financial support. Projects that are currently underway will be considered ineligible.
