“Redesign” is a pretty popular buzz word these days in many circles at the national, state and local level to save money.
Well, I decided to go for my own redesign.
Yes – my new picture is CHANGE. My own redesign.
Strategy:
- Quit highlighting my hair. (Yes, the dark brunette is my true color – even I didn’t know my hair was truly this dark!)
- Quit cutting my hair.
The Result:
- $100’s saved each year to use for the next vacation, buy my husband something nice, pay off debt, etc.
- Hours saved each year creating more time to write more blogs, visit the kids, read more books, etc.
Lessons:
- Change is hard!
- Change takes time.
- The process of change isn’t always fun.
- Need to acknowledge the change. (People don’t recognize me.)
- Change is good but not always for everyone. (My savings is a revenue loss for my hair dresser’s business.)
James Gordon, M.D., had this very insightful thought to share about change:
It’s not that some people have willpower and some don’t. It’s that some people are ready to change and others are not.
Now that I’ve shared mine, I ask you: What are your experiences with “redesign”?
