Community leaders and area residents interested in wind energy and biogas/methane opportunities are invited to a workshop Thursday, April 2, at the Hutchinson Event Center. Registration begins at 12:30 p.m. with workshops from 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The event is offered at no charge to participants and hosted by Southwest Initiative Foundation’s (SWIF) Rural Energy Development Initiative (REDI) in partnership with McLeod for Tomorrow.
The session on wind energy will help participants understand general information and opportunities, as well as project financing and legal issues. The biogas/methane session will provide an overview of anaerobic digester technology, the biogas economy and opportunities for existing and emerging local businesses.
Presenting organizations and experts include Lindquist and Vennum, PLLP; Minnesota Project; Northland Securities; University of Minnesota; SWIF and Windustry.
“The interest in these areas of renewable energy is steadily increasing,” said SWIF Program Specialist/REDI Regional Coordinator Cheryl Glaeser. “We look forward to providing an awareness of these economic opportunities for our rural communities.”
