Briana Mumme joins Southwest Initiative Foundation staff

HUTCHINSON, Minn.— Briana Mumme has joined Southwest Initiative Foundation’s (SWIF) staff as economic development manager. In this role, Mumme will help craft and implement innovative programs spanning business finance, entrepreneurship, workforce initiatives and regional economic development.

Briana poses for a formal head shot in front of a gray background.

“I am enthusiastic about contributing to SWIF’s mission and serving the region and its people with the highest level of respect and care. I am eager to fully immerse myself in this role and join an organization that has a long history of being a respected and impactful force in our region,” Mumme said.

Mumme makes her home in Franklin. Prior to joining SWIF, she served as the economic development coordinator for Redwood County where she designed and led programs and initiatives to catalyze entrepreneurship, broadband development, child care capacity, business retention and expansion, pandemic response, community leadership and economic vitality throughout the county. Mumme has been highly engaged in leadership roles in economic and community development, including serving as a member of the Governor’s Task Force on Broadband and on the Minnesota Agriculture and Economic Development Board, in addition to being past president of the Minnesota Association of Professional County Economic Developers.

“Briana is a highly skilled economic development professional with the values, subject matter expertise, leadership and focus on relationships that align wonderfully with our foundation’s mission and strategy. We are very excited that Briana joined our team and for how she will play such a critical role in advancing economic mobility and our vision of a region where all people thrive,” said SWIF President Scott Marquardt.

SWIF’s economic development programming focuses on ensuring southwest Minnesota has a diverse and thriving business community. It supports local businesses, employees and families to help create economic mobility for everyone in the region. The foundation’s cornerstone programs include business loans for startup and expansion, partnerships to improve access to local child care, a social enterprise fellowship and workforce development partnerships.
