Scott was named Southwest Initiative Foundation President effective Feb. 1, 2023. Scott has managed the foundation’s business finance, entrepreneurship, child care, career pathways, Employer Resource Network®, and general economic development programs and initiatives, in addition to having roles with farmland management and as staff liaison to the Investment Committee.
He is a board member and past chair of the Southwest Minnesota Housing Partnership, board vice chair and Loan and Fiscal Sponsorship Committee chair for Propel Nonprofits, and president of the Greater Minnesota Partnership. Scott serves on the boards of Child Care Aware of Minnesota, the Minnesota Economic Development Foundation, Southwest Minnesota Workforce Development and the Upper Minnesota Valley Regional Development Commission. He is a member of the International Economic Development Council (IEDC) Education and Certification Advisory Committee as well as co-director for the IEDC Upper Midwest Basic Economic Development Course. Scott is a past president of the Economic Development Association of Minnesota (EDAM) and currently serves as chair of the Government Relations Committee and as a member of the Conference Committee. He is also a member of the Minnesota Child Care Centers Staffing Qualifications Work Group and the Montevideo Police Civil Service Commission.
Scott is married to Amber, a Title 1 Teacher at the Montevideo School District. Their daughter Abby recently joined the South Dakota Department of Tribal Relations as a policy analyst, and their daughter Annie is a first-year nursing student.
