Farmfest highlights the incredible opportunities for us to work together as families, businesses, organizations and communities to keep our rural areas going and growing. These opportunities can take surprising forms, like shrimp. The tru Shrimp Company recently announced plans to build new shrimp production and processing facilities in southwest Minnesota. Not only will it bring jobs and dollars to the region, but it will also bring a new market for farmers because the shrimp are fed primarily soybeans, corn and hard red wheat.
Our region has a lot of fantastic businesses like this, and Southwest Initiative Foundation is proud to partner with them in these major investments. In this case, we helped fund the University of Minnesota economic study that moved the tru Shrimp Company project forward.
We’d be happy to share more with you about economic development when you stop by booth 3504 at Farmfest August 1-3. We’ll even send you home with a special gift when you visit us!
