Are you heading to Farmfest next week? Southwest Initiative Foundation is excited to be participating in FarmFest for the first time this year. This is a great regional event that celebrates what southwest Minnesota is all about–agriculture and amazing people! It’s at the beautiful Gilfillan Farm near Redwood Falls, at the center of our beautiful rural region.Hopefully you’ve heard about our new partnership with the Linder Farm Network launched earlier this year to get the word out about our Keep It Growing farmland giving program. We will have a booth in the Ag Tent next week during Farmfest to continue sharing news about this incredible program.
If you go, watch for people carrying our green and blue Keep It Growing yard sticks! And, if you visit us and mention you follow my blog or heard us on the Linder Farm Network, we’ll have an extra special gift – while supplies last. We are also excited to be part of the Linder Farm Network Ag Jamboree on Aug. 7, so you’ll get to hear more from us next week on air.
We are so looking forward to meeting our radio listeners and blog followers to talk with you more about farmland giving. You’ll see friendly faces like Bob Thurston from Olivia, who is the chair of our farmland retention committee and vice chair of our Board of Directors—he’s no stranger to FarmFest. And, Rob Saunders from Bird Island is currently our board chair and as an CPA, is very familiar with how gifts of farmland can benefit families in our region, especially from a tax/financial standpoint.
