Valspar Grants

The Southwest Minnesota Foundation has partnered with the Valspar Foundation’s “Minnesota Beautiful” program for the past seven years to provide grants of paint and coatings for community improvement projects in southwest Minnesota. Projects receiving grants this year include:

Atwater Threshing Show ? interior and exterior painting of historical buildings.

 

Business, Arts & Recreation Center, Inc. (BARC), Windom ? interior painting of gymnasium surfaces at BARC, a former school that now serves as a community-gathering center.  

 
Blue Mound Area Theater, Luverne ? painting of various parts of the theater, which was placed on the National Historic Register in 1979.  

Fort Belmont, Jackson ? exterior painting of this four-building historical site.   

 
Volstead House, Granite Falls ? interior and exterior painting of this historical building.  
Grove Mill Restoration, Grove City ? exterior painting of a 125 year-old mill that was once used to grind wheat into flour.    
Harrington/Merrill House, Hutchinson ? exterior painting of the oldest building in Hutchinson.  
Kandiyohi County Historical Center Buildings, Willmar ? exterior painting to preserve the county museum.  

Mountain Lake Community Center ? interior and exterior painting to refurbish the community center.  

 
Prairie Woods Environmental Learning Center, Kandiyohi County ? exterior staining to restore the outside appearance of this facility.  

Services Enterprises, Inc., Redwood Falls ? exterior painting of the rehabilitation building.

 

Heritage Village, Mountain Lake ? interior and exterior painting of four historical buildings.
