Located in the heart of our southwest Minnesota region near Redwood Falls, Farmfest offers an opportunity to network and learn. One of the educational sessions this year will talk about transitioning a farm to the next generation. But what if there isn’t a family member who wants to take over?
Southwest Initiative Foundation’s Keep It Growing farmland giving program is a great tool for landowners to keep land locally owned and in production, even without an heir. Glenn Krog wanted to make sure his farm would keep benefiting the community near Lake Benton, where he was born and raised. With no farm heirs, Glenn had to think creatively. He donated 320 acres to the Foundation. During his lifetime, he’ll continue to farm the land. And his legacy will support his friends and neighbors. Through it all, the crops will keep growing.
Want to learn more? You can read more about Glenn’s gift. Or better yet, visit us at Farmfest August 1-3 in booth 3504. We’d be happy to talk with you about options for your land, or other ways to leave a legacy. And we’ll even send you home with a free gift!
