I have had a fantastic few weeks crisscrossing our region to see the people and places that make southwest Minnesota so great. It’s clear to see we have some truly innovative businesses here, like Prairie Holdings Group in Worthington, developing and making animal vaccines and so much more. They are making an impact not only here at home, but throughout the world.
That entrepreneurial spirit is a trademark here in Minnesota. I believe it stems from our agricultural history—farmers are the ultimate entrepreneur, after all!
I saw that energy when I spoke with Eddie Becker at the Farmers Market here in Hutchinson. This 15-year-old operates Eddie’s Goat Milk Goods with his family, based in Glencoe. He represents our next generation of entrepreneurs and together we can nurture that spirit in him and other young people!
This week, many parts of our region were hit by massive rainfall. I’m reminded of the care we show for our neighbors—especially in times of need. We’ve also seen wind, hail and tornadoes hit our communities this summer—but I am in awe of the way folks dig in to pick themselves up.
Southwest Initiative Foundation is here to support people of all ages. When kids, families, businesses and communities in southwest Minnesota succeed, we all do better!
