WOW!
This has been an incredible week for the field of philanthropy. From celebrating Community Foundation week, to National Philanthropy Day to Give to the Max Day in Minnesota—I am inspired by the tremendous generosity we’ve seen in such a short amount of time.
In just 24 hours, more than $16.3 million was given through GiveMN.org. Again, WOW! More than 50,000 people gave to more than 4,300 nonprofits and schools throughout the state, including many in southwest Minnesota. Just imagine the difference these dollars will make for important programs and services to ALL Minnesotans!
SWIF provided a special incentive for our 24 community foundation partners, and $13,155 was contributed to SWIF and all of our funds yesterday, which is $4,000 more than we raised last year. Find out who won our SWIF Silver Tickets on our Give to the Max Day page! Thank you to all who contributed to SWIF, our family of funds, or any organization serving our southwest Minnesota regional community!
A special thank you also goes to our staff for meeting an exciting Give to the Max Day challenge given by the SWIF Executive Team. Vice President/COO Diana Anderson, Vice President Scott Marquardt and myself agreed to match staff gifts to our SWIF General Endowment . The challenge meant these staff gifts were matched 4:1 when we figure in our match from The McKnight Foundation, which matches any gift to our General Endowment dollar-for-dollar. I am so grateful for Diana and Scott’s willingness to give through this challenge, and for the efforts of staff to encourage giving to MANY organizations yesterday.
Yesterday’s Give to the Max Day is a great example of not just our spirit of giving that shines throughout the state, but also that every single gift counts. Incredible things happen when we come together and give what we can. Individually, it may seem small, but together, we accomplish great things!
Here’s a special thank you message from our friends at GiveMN.
