Southwest Initiative Foundation, Southwest Minnesota Workforce Council to host “can’t miss” event
Online registration is now open at www.swifoundation.org for southwest Minnesota’s next premier business leadership event presented by the Southwest Initiative Foundation and Southwest Minnesota Workforce Council. Leading by Example II: Boomers to Rock Stars, is set for 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Friday, Oct. 30, 2009, at Jackpot Junction in Morton.
During this event, participants will discover how the seismic demographic shift will impact careers and organizations as baby boomers begin turning 60 and “rock stars” of the next generation come into the workforce and learn what they all have to offer for southwest Minnesota’s future success.
Keynote speaker is acclaimed author, researcher and thought leader Daniel Pink on The Boomer Workforce and the End of Retirement as We Know It, followed by audience Q&A. Pink is the author of a trio of books that are reshaping how organizations operate and how individuals navigate their careers, including Free Agent Nation and A Whole New Mind, has been published in the New York Times, Harvard Business Review and Wired and seen on CNN, CNBC and ABC.
Pink will be followed by DEED Regional Analyst Cameron Macht with his new demographic report highlighting How Boomers and Rock Stars Impact Our Region, including the impact on business, education, health care and more. Presentations will conclude with Limelight Generations President/CEO Sarah Sladek on Rock Stars at Work, focusing on the changes Generations X and Y are bringing to our workplaces. Limelight Generations, Minneapolis, is one of the only generational companies in the U.S. focused on recruiting, retaining, managing and marketing to generations X, Y and Z.
Roundtable discussions facilitated by Sertich Consulting President/CEO Joe Sertich will follow each presentation.
