HUTCHINSON, Minn. – Matthew Dostal has opened Dostal CPA Tax & Consulting in Hutchinson with help from Southwest Initiative Foundation’s (SWIF) Microenterprise Loan Program. The new firm provides individual, business, trust and estate tax return preparation; customized tax planning; full payroll services; business start-up consulting, forecasting and cash flow planning; accounting system assistance; bookkeeping; and preparation and analysis of financial statements.
“My goal is to provide superior personalized and timely service for businesses and individuals. I want to be a true partner in my clients’ success in every sense of the term, both personally and professionally,” said Matt, who grew up in Hutchinson.
In addition to a bachelor’s degree in accounting and finance from St. Cloud State University, Matt is a certified public accountant (CPA) and an enrolled agent (EA) – an elite credential awarded to tax professionals by the Internal Revenue Service. He has a decade of accounting experience, including as a partner in a small CPA firm in Hutchinson and manager at a mid-size CPA firm in Chaska.
Dostal CPA Tax & Consulting’s office on Main Street in Hutchinson is open Monday, Wednesday and Thursday and by appointment Tuesday and Friday. Matt hopes to grow the businesses, adding employees and eventually opening an office in Waconia near where he lives with his wife, Kristin Dostal, and their two daughters. Kristin currently manages the marketing for the firm.
Loan proceeds from SWIF helped Matt purchase equipment and provided working capital. Loan programs have been a key function of SWIF since its inception to support communities and businesses throughout southwest Minnesota. In 2001, microlending was added to existing programs as a tool to support small businesses and people looking for self-employment opportunities.
“Turning his passion and knowledge into a business is a great opportunity for Matt, and we’re happy to be here to help him get started,” said Jackie Turner, SWIF Economic Development Officer.
Microloan clients receive free technical assistance from SWIF staff to improve their business management skills. Areas of support include business planning and financials analysis, QuickBooks training, marketing assistance and other training opportunities for the life of the loan.
This microloan program receives funding assistance from the U.S. Small Business Administration and U.S. Department of Agriculture. For more information, contact SWIF at 800-594-9480, 320-587-4848 or [email protected].
