The Youth Energy Summit or YES! program is just completing its 8th year. We’re excited to have catalyzed YES! and helped it grow into an impactful program. It has empowered so many young leaders.
Prairie Woods Environmental Learning Center is poised to continue and expand YES! as Southwest Initiative Foundation transitions our role to a YES! funder. This past year, many of the teams implemented some green fundraising strategies, too.
The Westbrook Walnut Grove team made bracelets from recycled materials and turned it into a business to generate money for their projects. New London Spicer made lip balm and hand cream from bees wax. Several teams collected slightly worn shoes for WorldWear. This not only created revenue for YES! teams, but also provides shoes for those in need.
In fact, you can bring your gently used shoes to our office in Hutchinson if you’d like to clean out those closets, help YES! and help others. Or check with your local YES! team
to see if they have a collection site.
Keep an eye on this program – it continues to amaze us!
