Many farmers in our region rent land–in addition to what they own themselves–as part of their farming operations.
“All of our landowners are so important to us,” said Geof Johnson, a farmer from Windom. He and his wife Leann rent land from Southwest Initiative Foundation.
Geof and Leann have a special operation. Through our program, they’re keeping land owned by a previous generation in production. And, on their own, they’re mentoring a young farmer to prepare the next generation.
