Building Vibrant and Welcoming Communities: Anti-hate Awareness and Action Virtual Forum
December 10, 2020 @ 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm
Our vision is a southwest Minnesota where all people thrive. This can’t be realized while fear and hatred persist. We are alarmed and saddened by the presence of hate groups, and symbols and hateful actions in our communities. We believe education and civil conversation are powerful tools for building more vibrant and welcoming communities. Join us as we learn together!
This forum will bring awareness to complex issues that are impacting us today. Attend a breakout session for ideas to take positive action in your own community. Advanced registration is required. Learn more about the speakers and sessionsRegister for the forum

- Protecting Our Youth: How Hate Groups Target Kids Online and What We Can Do to Keep Them Safe (designed for parents, educators, faith leaders, and community members)
Many young people are feeling isolated during these challenging times. Hate groups exploit the vulnerability of youth through the online platforms they frequent. Recruiters appeal to the emotional turmoil and uncertainty young people are facing by making them feel wanted and respected. This session will explore the tactics used and how to spot the signs that someone has been drawn in by them.
