William McCormack, formerly of Marshall, dedicated 12 years of volunteer service to our Board of Directors, including a term from Fiscal Year 2012-2013 as board chair. His final term ends June 30, the close of our fiscal year.
During Bill’s tenure on the board, he has seen so much change for Southwest Initiative Foundation and our region. As past board chair, he was the driving force behind many of these positive changes.
A shift to include proactive programming, building permanent headquarters, rebranding, leadership transitions—Bill led us through big decisions as an organization. His experience as a corporate executive with The Schwan Food Company was invaluable to the foundation as we worked to improve processes and move ideas forward.
He also played a major role in transforming our governance and nominating process, leaving a lasting legacy for how new board members lead our work.
Bill showed deep commitment in his many years of leadership. He is credited with our phrase “raise the bar” and that’s what he always pushed us to do. From big initiatives to small projects, Bill stressed the importance of outcomes. Our work—and foundation—is even greater because of his leadership.
