This week, Southwest Initiative Foundation (SWIF) staff took some time to have a fun lunch together and celebrate a big achievement for our organization. For the second year in a row, we have received 100 percent giving to our General Endowment from both our Board of Directors and staff. That means all 36 of us who already dedicate a great deal of time and energy to make this organization run also contributed financially to support our work well into the future.
I have often expressed how much of an honor it is for me to serve this organization as President/CEO and this is just one reason why. Our board and staff have endless options of what to support, just like everyone else. From local fundraisers for schools, churches or families in need in our communities to national organizations—we have the choice to give to whatever we care about.
Again, that’s what makes 100 percent giving so special. It means that not only do we work hard every day to help make southwest Minnesota better in some small way, but we also want to see our work last. The SWIF General Endowment is a permanent resource for our region and I can only imagine the great things that will happen because of the many generous donors who are choosing to keep at least a portion of their charitable dollars here, to support our home.
