For this year’s Memorial Day, I’m taking time to remember two special veterans in particular—Bud and Ernie—and all those on the Honor Flight I traveled with. I’ve met so many incredible people through this experience, which was one that many have heard me describe as truly life-changing.
I’ve recently had the opportunity to share my Honor Flight story with a church group. I call my story, “What am I doing on this flight?” It’s an experience that changed everything for me, but it’s really all about the veterans.
This opportunity and others before have led to me meeting so many people who have family that were in WWII and all other wars since. We need to remember all veterans and families who served and continue to serve our country. We must never forget.
No matter how you plan to spend the holiday weekend, I hope it includes recognizing and honoring at least one veteran and their family. Our southwest Minnesota regional community is filled with incredible vets who deserve our heartfelt thanks.
