Giving Matters
Some people describe community philanthropy as giving from a community, on behalf of a community. That’s the premise of a community foundation. People “give where they live” as a way to make it a better place for themselves and others.
Southwest Initiative Foundation is one of more than 700 community foundations across the country and this year, we mark the . We share the belief that anyone can be a philanthropist—and that giving really matters.
Giving matters to…
- 414 individuals, 60 businesses, 62 counties and cities, and 13 organizations and foundations who supported Southwest Initiative Foundation’s work in Fiscal Year 2014 (July 1, 2013 – June 30, 2014).
- Nonprofits and communities who received our 371 grants totaling $1.3 million that allowed them to provide important services and programs.
- 24 community foundation affiliates and 90 funds who can support critical needs and move exciting projects forward.
- Families, businesses and organizations who make southwest Minnesota their home.
Together during the past year, we all made southwest Minnesota stronger. We took on new challenges, addressed immediate needs and dreamed about the unlimited possibilities for our future.
That’s what families do. We take care of each other. We work together. We try to make things better for the next generation.
Thank you for being part of our Southwest Initiative Foundation family.
